Recently, "Work Shop" is being noticed as a new place for children to learn and develop their creative power. Good work shop programs which have originality and which help to enhance children's creative power and expression are being held in many places in Japan. These Work shops have made steady progress.

Workshop collection is an exposition which aims to popularize and expand such good workshops for children to whole of Japan. In this event, various workshops are held in one place which helps in introducing them to the public in a big way. This can be a festival of workshops for children, a place for people who manage a workshop to publish their opinions and communicate with each other, also a place where children get together and join workshops to have a valuable experience.

■ NPO CANVAS

CANVAS was founded as a NPO by some enthusiastic professionals in various fields in November 2002. The aim of the organization is to provide children with opportunities to improve and enrich their creativity and ability of expression. Helping to enrich children's creative and expressional abilities will enable Japan as a country to be able to communicate with other countries more effectively. CANVAS encourages activities for children nationwide and makes a contribution to the future progress of Japan.

The onus of building a new society with pluralistic values lies with our children's generation. They must explore new forms of expression. We grown-ups must feel responsible for creating an environment wherein each child should be able to use their ability to the maximum in future.

We hope they will explore a new form of expression and make a new society.
